Oracle DBA/Developer

Reports to:
Supervisor of Web Development and Programming

Description:

  • Ideal candidates will have majority of DBA experience in a development environment. Some production experience is OK, but this position focuses primarily on development
  • Designs, documents, implements, and maintains database architecture in support of the application development and QA processes
  • Plans data flows for new and revised databases
  • Performs assigned tasks in the areas of database modeling and technical design, performance monitoring, data lifecycle management, capacity planning, and database performance tuning
  • Ensures that storage, archives backup and recovery procedures are functioning correctly
  • The position will provide operational support for development, test and production environments
  • Develop and maintain database administration procedures and operations to achieve optimum database availability
  • Assists and trains development team members on effective use of SQL, stored procedures, and Oracle features

Qualifications:

  • B.S. in Computer Science or equivalent preferred
  • 5 years experience in a variety of database assignments
  • 3+ years experience in the analysis, design, and development of Oracle database systems
  • Proficiency with SQL (optimizing queries)
  • Proficiency with Unix and/or Linux
  • Proficiency with scripting
  • Experience with XML
  • Experience working with application developers to define and deliver production applications
  • Analytical thinker with proven ability to work independently
  • Ability to communicate complex technical information in a timely, concise and coherent manner
  • Ability to shift schedules and directions, quickly developing alternatives and contingencies in response to changes in plans and schedules
  • Ability to gain cooperation from personnel on all levels
  • Drive to maintain an in-depth understanding of industry trends and evolving technology

Specific Training Required:

  • Training in ISO 9001:2000 procedures used by Accent
  • Training in the operation of new software and software upgrades used in the performance of assigned duties
  • Training in the operation of new hardware and upgrades used in the performance of assigned duties
  • Training in Accent rules, guidelines, and procedures
  • Training in client's rules, guidelines, and procedures on an as-needed basis
  • Safety training as specified and required by Accent
  • Safety training as specified and required by client regarding that company's work environment
