Technical Documentation Process
Below is a typical process that we follow when working with our clients:
- Kickoff meeting to gather project details, timeline, resources, materials, budget, and requirements.
- Define and outline project specifications to meet timeline and budget.
- Review existing engineering documents.
- Assign technical writers, technical illustrators, and project managers to the project.
- Identify ideal content management solution and define tools and steps for efficient documentation.
- Develop technical content and graphics/illustrations.
- Assemble and perform internal proofreading/editing.
- Send out draft for client review.
- Final page composition and proofreading/editing.
- Deliver final product.
Application Development Process
Accent's web application development team has consistently delivered projects for clients that observe Capability Maturity Model (CMM) Level 3 and 4 process standards.
Following is the typical process we follow for custom application development:
Plan and Define
- Meet with subject matter experts and business analysts to determine project scope and deliverables.
- Develop a project plan including a schedule and budget.
- Develop use case diagrams.
- Create a mutually agreeable set of business and system requirements.
Design and Build
- Create system design documentation.
- Develop overall software architecture diagram.
- Define any interfaces with other systems that the target application requires.
- Code and configure.
- Conduct unit, integration, and regression testing as required.
Test
- Develop system integration test plan.
- Develop user acceptance test plan.
- Conduct system and end-to-end testing.
- Fix code for formal user acceptance testing.
- Conduct formal user acceptance testing.
- Fix code for final acceptance and deployment.
- Obtain final sign-off for deployment.
Deploy
- Develop deployment scripts and instructions.
- Establish system operations and maintenance plans.
- Deploy to target production system.
- Deliver user guide required for operation of system.
- Evaluate that all project objectives have been met.
